Paper Knife
Opening envelopes can become a historical event when you using this 5000-year-old paper knife.
For thousands of years remnants of ancient Redgum forest remained buried in the gravels of the old Murray River bed until excavations exposed them. Test carried out on the wood indicate the trees of this deposit were flourishing more than 5000 years ago - long before the pyramids were built. The discovery of this distinctively coloured timber has provided Australian crafts pieces of indigenous character and historical interest.
Each article crafted from Ancient Redgum is presented with an information card outlining the material’s discovery, origins and its unique properties.
